Cancelling basic insurance with Assura follows the common rule: receipt of the letter by 30 November at the latest for effect on 1 January. The basic cover is identical to that of any other KVG/LAMal insurer.
Moving abroad and cancelling Assura
If you leave Switzerland permanently, the cancellation takes effect on the date of departure confirmed by the residents' registration office, outside the 30 November deadline. Enclose the departure certificate with your letter sent to the Assura cancellation address.
Mandatory details
Insured number, line (basic KVG/LAMal), effective date, signature: these elements make the letter admissible. An omission exposes you to a refusal for a formal defect.
